I was born in Richmond, Virginia and spent my early years in New York City.
My family moved to Fort Lauderdale after my 8th grade year. We lived
next door to a friendly Realtor who sold us the beach house where I
live today. After graduating from Pine Crest, I attended business
school and was accepted into the University of Miami. I moved to
Cambridge, Mass. where I studied journalism at Harvard. I decided on a
career in real estate in the 60's and immediately fell in love with
the business.
I worked in a small office. My broker, Art Breslin, had bushy white
eyebrows and was very Irish. He taught me early on that the most
important thing to remember is that you want to walk down any street
holding your head high, having past and present customers greet you
with a smile. He said, "Never think about the commission- only think
about the results for the buyer or seller." He was so right.
Even though sometimes I had to ask him to look over contracts at the
local pub, he taught me so much. When he retired, I was asked to
become a residential manager for a large real estate company. After a
lot of soul searching, I turned the offer down and opened my own
office where I could put into practice what I had learned from a master
teacher.
Today I am a Master Broker and I have many fine agents. We all work as
a "team" to help buyers and sellers. Most of our business is repeat or
referral and we only hire agents who share our philosophy of putting
our customers first. My husband, George, is a broker associate as well
as my son, Mark. Each of our 20+ agents are very special, dedicated
individuals.
